Character notes

A native of the planet Galentor, Thregar is a descendant of a human settlement that commenced living on the forest world around three hundred years ago. Two catastrophes lead to the fall of the settlement from a technological, civilised condition to the present state of primitive barbarism, akin to prehistoric times on Earth.

The first of these was the take over of the roughly thousand-year Galactic Federation by the dictator Mavic Chen.  This upheaval led to the withdrawal of Federation space patrols from the area, leaving the Galentor settlement isolated and unprotected.  Even more devastating was the conquest of Galentor by the Second Dalek Empire. Subjugated, their settlements attacked, the humans that survived the initial onslaught fled into the depths of the forests and have lived off the land ever since.  Regular Dalek and Robo-Man patrols are a constant threat, as are the wild beasts known as the Mugati. Life is difficult and dangerous for the surviving humans.

Thregar is a tribesman living in the largest continent on Galentor, in its southern hemisphere.  His extended family, or tribe, are close and always care for each other. He and his twin brother Garleth are valued for being good hunters and foragers. As with all his fellows, he is steeped in the mystical lore of the tribe.  He is aware that his tribe is part of a larger family of humans scattered on innumerable worlds, but in ancient times all their people lived on one world (although they have long forgotten its name).  During that ancient time, a mysterious traveller known as the Stranger is said to have come to their aid during times of great peril, including threats from the Daleks, which his tribe call “the Evil Ones”.

An adventurous person, Thregar may be a skilled tracker and survivalist, but he has no knowledge of anything technological.  Any remaining technological or mechanical items left over from the previous settlement are non-functioning relics, revered for their supposed sacred powers and energies.  As a practical man though, if he is shown how to use something, he can normally make it work.  The tribe and, even more so, his immediate family are everything to him.  He sees the world in terms of myths and stories. He is admired for his compassion and duty for the other members of his tribe.  He wears a non-functioning pocket computer as jewellery in a necklace. He has excellent hearing.
